Clear choices before you drive
Every Vibe hire includes a choice of three liability options. Compare the daily cost, the amount you could be responsible for after a covered incident, and the bond required at pickup.
Compare the optionsChoose for the full hire
The options change your daily charge, maximum damage liability and bond. They do not change your obligation to drive lawfully, protect the campervan and follow the rental agreement.
Full comparison
The same types of covered incidents can qualify under all three options. What changes is the amount you pay each day, your maximum liability and the bond required.

Damage liability applies to each separate covered incident. The option recorded in your booking confirmation and rental agreement controls if it differs from this page.
What the numbers mean
Understanding this distinction helps you choose a level that fits both your risk comfort and the available limit on your payment card.
The most you would normally pay for a separate incident that qualifies for cover. It is sometimes described as an “excess”. If the covered cost is lower, you pay the lower amount.
Security placed as a pre-authorisation on a valid payment card. It is not the maximum you may owe, and it can temporarily reduce the funds available to you.
An accidental event that meets the current rental agreement and applicable policy conditions. A collision or third-party claim can qualify; an excluded event or agreement breach does not.
Important limits
None of the options is a waiver of every cost. If cover does not apply, your responsibility can exceed the selected damage liability and may extend to the full loss or cost.
These can be treated differently depending on the cause. A tyre or wheel damaged as part of a qualifying collision may be assessed with that incident, while punctures, wear and avoidable tyre issues may remain your cost. Hirer-caused roadside callouts—including a flat starter battery, lockout or lost key, incorrect fuel or an empty fuel tank—may also be charged separately. Check the terms applying to your confirmed booking.
If something happens
Prompt contact and good evidence help Vibe support you and assess the incident fairly.
Check everyone is safe. Contact emergency services where needed, then tell Vibe as soon as it is safe to do so.
Take photos and collect names, contact details, registrations and insurer information. Notify Police when required.
Do not admit liability or authorise repairs unless Vibe approves them, except for immediate action needed to keep people safe.
Additional authorised drivers are $2 per day. Every driver must be named on the rental agreement and meet the licence and age rules.
Questions before you choose
This page is a practical explanation, not the full contract. Read the rental policy and rental terms, then contact us if anything in your confirmation is unclear.
No. Premium Cover reduces your maximum damage liability to $350 for each separate covered incident. Excluded damage, excluded costs and breaches of the rental agreement can still be charged in full.
Normally, no. It is a card pre-authorisation that temporarily reduces the funds available on your card. After a satisfactory return, Vibe requests its release within two business days, but your card issuer may take up to 10 business days to make the funds available again.
No. The bond is security, while the damage liability is the maximum payable for a covered incident. For Risk Taker and General Cover, the liability is higher than the bond. Excluded damage and other amounts due under the rental agreement may also be charged separately.
For a covered incident, you pay the lower of the reasonable covered cost and your applicable maximum damage liability, together with any separate excluded amounts permitted by the rental agreement.
Your applicable liability may be held or charged while the incident is assessed and recovery is pursued. If Vibe later recovers an amount that is due back to you, the corresponding refund will be processed after recovery.
External insurance does not replace Vibe's bond or your payment obligations. You must meet the rental agreement first, then make your own reimbursement claim with your insurer. Check its limits, exclusions and evidence requirements before travelling.
Yes. Each additional authorised driver costs $2 per day and must be named on the rental agreement, meet the age rules and present an acceptable full driver licence.
